Marinade for Beef or Chicken, Not Really Teriyaki -- But Better

1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
2 Tablespoons sesame oil
1 Tablespoon Five-Spice-Powder (from the oriental food aisle)

Maple Milk Shake

1/2 cup Pure Maine Maple Syrup
2 cups milk
1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened

In blender mix all ingredients, serve at once.

Glazed Carrots

6 medium sized carrots
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons Pure Maine Maple Syrup
1/2 teaspoon ginger (cardammon works well, too)

Slice carrots and cook until tender.
Melt butter, adding Pure Maine Maple Syrup.
Simmer carrots in this mixture until glazed.

Maple Syrup Loaf Cake

1 egg
1 cup Pure Maine Maple Syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons melted shortening
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup milk

Beat the egg thoroughly.
Add syrup, milk, vanilla, melted shortening and dry ingredients sifted together.
Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes in a greased deep loaf pan.

Maple Oatmeal Cookies

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup Pure Maine Maple Syrup
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 teaspoons baking powder

Beat butter, maple syrup, milk and egg.
Sift flour, salt and baking powder.
Combine dry and wet ingredients.
Add raisins, oatmeal and nuts.
Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes or until browned. Makes 4 dozen.

Maine Maple Drop Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup Pure Maine Maple Syrup
1 beaten egg
2 1/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Combine in order given.
Let stand 5-10 minutes before baking in a 375°F oven, 10-12 minutes.

Maple Salad Dressing

Blend together:
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Pure Maine Maple Syrup
1 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt

Makes one cup of dressing for salad greens.

Maple Baked Acorn Squash

Cut acorn squash in half and scoop out seeds.
Put squash in baking dish cut side up and add 1/2" of water to dish.
Pour 1/2 cup Pure Maine Maple Syrup into squash cavities, and dot with butter, season with salt and pepper.
Cover dish and bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes.

Maine Bread Pudding

7 slices bread
3 cups scalded milk
2 beaten eggs
1 cup Pure Maine Maple Syrup
1/5 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Break bread into buttered casserole.
Mix remaining ingredients and pour over bread.
Bake one hour in a 350°F oven.
